The Grand Tour - General information

Discover the "Grand Tour of Switzerland" and enjoy the roads of Switzerland. Of course, La Gruyère is of part of the Tour.

On the Grand Tour of Switzerland the journey is the goal. This route will lead you 1600 kilometers through four language regions, over five Alpine passes, to eleven UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as two biospheres and along 22 lakes.

This Tour provides a concentrated insight into Switzerland, with exquisite scenic views and cultural jewels.

Whether it be by car, motor bike, bicycle or public transport, the Grand Tour of Switzerland is made for adventurers ready to explore Switzerland and its secrets.

The itinerary designed by Suisse Tourisme runs across La Gruyère from top to bottom, following the shores of the Lac de la Gruyère and giving travellers a refreshing stop with views across to the Pre-Alps. Once you are at Broc, you cannot help visiting the Maison Cailler, the Swiss chocolate factory par excellence. Your taste buds will be grateful! The medieval town of Gruyères, also on the route, is the ideal place for a cultural and gastronomic stop: the Gruyères castle and the demonstration cheese factory “La Maison du Gruyère” are simply a must! The route continues through the authentic Intyamon valley that is rich in Alpine pastures and in the pastoral cheese tradition.
