Museums and other places to visit
The star attraction of the Estavayer-le-Lac Museum is undoubtedly the collection of 108 stuffed and dressed frogs, which were created in the 19th century by François Perrier, a former officer in the Napoleonic Guard. As a result, the local history museum is now popularly referred to as the Frog Museum.
For lovers of archaeology, the Department of Archaeology of the State of Fribourg proposes free guided tours of the premises and the conservation-restoration laboratories.
The State Archives of Fribourg has as main mission to to collect, to preserve, to register and to give access to the public the documents of all authorities, organs, services and institutions of the state of Freiburg which are as a source of information or evidence of interest.
