Every year around the start of school in August, the Bénichon market takes place in Romont.
Full programm, see pdf.
The Bénichon market (from 9 am to 3 pm) is a friendly event, where people and families can meet, have a drink together, dander around the craft market and the local products stands.
The start of school coincides with the intra-muros Bénichon: the season specialities are brought out.
The cuchaule (brioche-typed bread with taste of saffron), Bénichon mustard (sweet-and-sour spicy jam), ham (pork smoking chimney) and poires à Botzi (special little pears cooked in caramelized syrup).
A few restaurants in Romont offer the Bénichon menu during the week-end.
Each year is another guest invited and new animations organized: e.g. fashion show, horse-drawn carriage, demos, music, etc.
