The traditional box-cart races are a feature of the Bénichon celebrations in the Charmey region.
It’s a fun event combining originality, creativity and competition. Each team, composed of five young people, spends weeks feverishly transforming their hay-cart into a highly original vehicle. The box-carts then hurtle through the village, pulled by their teams, also dressed up to match the theme of their cart, in a highly competitive race. Prizes are awarded to the most innovative box-carts.
