At around 1,600 metres above sea level, the Alpine hut Salzmatt welcomes its visitors. It is an ideal place for guests to relive the Kaiseregg summit experience or to find a warm coffee and breakfast after an early hike to watch the sunrise.
Hiking trails lead from the Salzmatt Alp to the Hohmattli (1,794 m) or to the Kaiseregg Pass, or to the summit of the Kaiseregg (2,185 m). The ideal location for an alpine hut. The Alp Salzmatt is hosted by the family Gasser with father Walter, wife Rita and son Stefan. They offer a delicious fondue moitié-moitié, which is not served with a small portion. Veal sausage, warm ham and meringues with double cream are other specialties from the region. The connecting door between the stable and the kitchen is half open, so that you can see the animals - a great experience. As a souvenir for home, the fine mountain cheese Schwarzsee from the cheese diary Weidli can be bought here.
