Holiday program for explorers

This holiday program is packed with art, cuisine and culture. We have left no highlight and proudly present the colorful range of museums, gastronomy tips and attractions that the region has to offer. The spirit of discovery is guaranteed to be awakened here.

Day 1 – La Gruyère

Gruyères, this idyllic little medieval village which is so well preserved. A visit to the castle means 800 years of travel through time, there is a video, history and legends, the knight’s hall, then rooms with glass art, pictures and temporary exhibitions. The aperitif can be enjoyed in the film-like setting of the HR Giger Bar. Learn the secrets of preparing the famous “Moitié-moitié” fondue at the Fondue Academy. Want to know more about cheese? La Maison du Gruyère allows you to discover the artisanal production of Gruyère AOP. At the panoramic restaurant Le Sommet nestled on Le Moléson, admire the sunset while tasting regional dishes.

Day 2 – Fribourg

Taste My Fribourg is a gastronomic circuit to taste Fribourg specialties. Enjoy discovering the city of Fribourg individually with taste breaks in four essential places. To visit the Old Town in a fun way, an Urban Golf, 18-hole course is available. Along the way enjoy (re) discovering the city using the augmented reality mobile app and find your restaurant for the evening! Perhaps you will go to one of the gourmet restaurants such as the Café de la Fonderie at Ben & Léo, La Cène, Le Pérolles or the Hôtel de Ville.

Day 3 – Fribourg

After climbing the 365 steps to get to the top of the St-Nicolas cathedral, the view of the Old Town is spectacular. Also admire the fortifications around the medieval town which you can visit freely and discover hidden corners! From August, follow 6 virtual personalities thanks to the Frÿburg visioguide. From this summer, Espace 1606 located in the Werkhof will present a 52m2 model of the city of Fribourg in 1606. After returning to reality, appreciate the view of Fribourg from the terraces of the Cafés du Belvédère, de l’Ange or de la Clef.

Day 4 – Murten

After visiting the Museum of Murten, we understand the significance of the ramparts during the Battle of Murten in 1476. Walking through these famous ramparts, we take a look at the historic past of the city, towards the blue of Lake Murten but also on its charming streets, arcades and cafes. By the way: a fresh Mutner Nidelkuchen from Aebersold bakery is a must! For an aperitif it is advisable to taste a Chasselas from the nearby Mont-Vully, whether in a flea market atmosphere at the Chesery restaurant, in a beach atmosphere at the Beach House or even on the magnificent terrace of the Hotel Schiff am See.

Day 5 – Murten

A real holiday atmosphere emerges from the cruise on Lake Murten. This circuit of 75 minutes departing from Murten with meals on board is a treat for body and soul. You can also use this means of transport to reach the other bank and visit the wine-growing villages of Vully, take a stroll on the Vineyard path, discover the caves of the First World War or even climb Mont Vully and enjoy the view. (653 m). The panorama is spectacular! Anyone who wants to literally change the climate can visit the Papiliorama in Kerzers. An adventure in its own!

Day 6 – Estavayer-le-Lac

The medieval city has become trendy. In fact, the ArtiChoke urban art itinerary revolves around 15 works by artists from very different worlds, resolutely turned towards modern and contemporary art. In addition, some of these works of art are reflected at sunset over Lake Neuchâtel. A privileged place of observation is the Old Beach, at the Restaurant Les Lacustres, at the Ripper Bar or at the Restaurant La Sarcelle in Cheyres with its cocktail bar and its view on the lake.
