Walking up to the summit of the Niremont in snowshoes will reward you with an unforgettable panoramic view, from Mont-Blanc to Moléson, via the Jura, Lake Geneva and Lake Neuchâtel. A charming walk in a protected natural area.
From the car park in Les Pueys, cross the road and start to climb up through the snow fields and pine trees, passing the Chalet des Errouvines, before walking along the ridge to the broad Niremont plateau. This lunar landscape is a favourite place for snow-kiters, so you may be treated to an unexpected show.
Once you reach the Croix du Niremont, you’ll be dazzled by the spectacular panoramic view from the Jura ridge to Mont-Blanc, the Geneva basin and the summits of Savoie and the Valais. Retrace your steps once you’ve taken in this magnificent view. From the Chalet du Gros Niremont, begin your descent on the other side of the hill and head down to the Rathvel ski resort and the Cabane du Petit Oiseau restaurant (open daily during the winter season), where you can spend a moment of relaxation enjoying the local produce.
Initially, the route continues on the flat to rest your calves, then ends with a final descent to the Casa Derrey mountain pasture and takes you back into Les Pueys.
