The international competition F3J takes place already for the 4th time and counts for the Eurotour, as well as for the World Cup.
The competition class F3J belongs to model gliding without motor drive in the lowlands.
The goal of this competition class is to achieve a flight of 10 minutes with a radio-controlled glider model after a high start executed with electric winches, which is concluded by a target landing. The take-off is performed with the help of a nylon rope pulled by an electric winch. After release, the model rises steeply into the sky - similar to a kite - and thus reaches heights of between 170 and 220 meters, depending on the wind.
This starting altitude allows a flight without upwind influence of about 7 minutes. In order to achieve the targeted flight time of 10 minutes, the pilot must therefore search for zones where air heated by solar radiation is rising. The flight is completed by a target landing as close as possible to a point specified by the organizer. Each meter of distance between this landing point and the nose of the model results in a point deduction.
